Baby Book Collection
Even though it appears that it will be awhile before I am a Grandam, that doesn't mean I can't add to my collection of baby knitting books. I have always been a baby knit book collector. Even way back when I first started knitting, I couldn't resist buying baby knitting patterns.
Several of the Knit 4 Together ladies are knitting baby stash items. I've always thought that was a great idea. Start a baby hope chest. It could be for the future grandbaby, but sometimes a hubby or son, will ask if you have anything knitted up that they could give to someone they know. I believe in being prepared!

A New Cast On
Normally, I use the good ole long tail cast on. Very rarely, do I use anything else. Sometimes, I do use the crochet chain cast on when I need to as a provisional cast on. But thats about it.
Last Friday night, I was playing around with my Gulf of Mexico Yarn and a Lang Pattern that calls for the Italina Cast On as a sort of provisional cast on. I like the look of it. I might use this again for another Wrapper jacket from Cheryl Oberle's book. I think it might elimnate some of the flair that I got with the rib cast on.

It's That Time Again
The first day of Spring. And I've been refelecting on what I want to accomplish this Spring. Kind of a New Season Resolution List.
One of the things that I thought of while there was a possibility of a grandchild, was that I really don't have room for a baby bed in the yarn room.
Couple that with our impending construction of a new bathroom in the basement and I need a place for the many knitting magazines I have accumulated over the years. Well, I've always known that I need to knit down some of the yarn in the room, but sometimes it's hard to keep from buying the newest and the latest yarn.
Armed with paper and pen, I've made a list of yarns that need to be knitted for this Spring and Summer. It's quite the list as you would expect, but I think it is doable. And when done, I should have at least two bins free, maybe a third.
One of the great colors for Spring from Pantone is Lavender. Now, those who know me, know that Caribe Blue is my fave, but I am becoming a lavender/thistle fan. Yesterday, after knitting, four of us went out to Bergner's for their 30% shoe sale...I came home with these cuties...
But as luck would have it, I do have some yarn that will look pretty good with it I think. These Sublime yarns are so scrumptious and I am anxious to start on this sweater out of it. Technically, this yarn didn't even make it to a bin, it is still sitting in the sack waiting patiently.
I'm anxious to cast on and knit it, but before then I have to finish a project that I am test knitting. But, for this weekend, I have given myself the weekend off from it, so armed with some Harry Potter movies on Family Channel, and my needles I think I'll do a gauge swatch for it.

For Just A Moment
The kids in Memphis gave me this book two weeks ago as announcement. We were thrilled and so were they.
Then, I got the call on Wednesday, she lost the baby. Baby Boy A was really upset and I hurt for him that I couldn't be there to give him a hug.
I know the timing just wasn't right and a few days later I'm better about it. Not lashing out quite so much, but still.
The book is in the bookcase and I'll use it at some point.

I Knew It
This is a sure fire sign that spring is just around the corner. Do you know what it is?
The pieces of our soon to be neighborhood outdoor plant shop. When the semi drops it off, is when I know that Spring is a comin...that and the beautiful sky today and the promise of 50 - 65 degree weather later this week.
Bring it on!

New Patterns
This has been quite the week...I've felt older than my years and have one malady after the other. Next week, I am going to be better...I'm not going to whine as much...thats a sign that Spring is coming.
There was some good basketball this weekend at the Civic Center and then some boring basketball...
In a couple of weeks, we are going to start the build of a new bathroom in the basement. We've lived here for over 30 years and with four of us have been using one bathroom. This is long over due...but before that can happen, we had to make some space and get rid of a few things. One would be surprised at what we found. There were a couple of containers of yarn that had to go to the garbage. They could not be selvedged. They were from the day when the Tall Guy smoked and smoked alot. Even with them being put into closed tubs the smell permeated the yarn and I am just not into airing them out.
We've filled up almost all of our garbage cans for this week, so after Thursday garbage day, we'll have to load them up again.
With the cleaning, I managed to find a couple of long lost patterns and only one set of inox needles. I was surprised at that.
Last night, while surfing patternfish, I found some new patterns that had to follow me home...as always I have yarn in the yarn room that will look great in them. But before I can start any of them, I have to finish the test knit that I am doing and the Orange Remix Sweater.
I love that Patternfish....patterns when you need them.

I Did Something
Something that I almost never do. I threw out a knitting magazine! I generally keep them, thinking in the future that someone somewhere might mention a knit that I just need to do and will need the magazine.
So after "reading" my latest Vogue Knitting Magazine, I decided to toss it. I am not going to ever want to go back and pull anything from the latest edition to knit. My knitting time is to valuable.
I feel pretty good about tossing it....and when it comes up for renewal, I am going to re-think to renewing....there is always Barnes and Noble or Walmart if I just have to have the issue.

It's A Cloudy Day
but, I am wearing my Wabi Sabi one more time. I'm busy knitting on a new project that I blogged about last week. When I can I will report more. For now, I can tell you that it is purple and a pretty shade at that. I am so excited that I want to be knitting on it all the time to see how it turns out.
More when I can.

Fiber Wild!
All knitting trips need to have a yarn shop on their agenda. Fiber Wilde in Galena is just right. A few of the knitters took a crochet class on Saturday while the rest of us hung out at the Victorian Mansion knitting.
Jenny designed the sweatshirts and tote bags with our logo, and I got to shop for the goodies to put in them. The sweatshirt and tote bag colors were kept a secret until Friday night when we all got to the Mansion.
What a great, relaxing time the weekend was. Plans are already formualting for the 2nd Annual trip.
