This Week In Knits

A couple of things on tap for this week.

I finished my Half + Half Triangles Wrap last weekend, and this week, I am concentrating on finishing one of my last tops for Summer, the Snow Bell Top.  I'm motoring along on the body and hopefully, soon to the sleeves.

And a KAL that starts with the Knitting Posse tomorrow, is a Beth Macdonald Stone pattern, Gulf Stream that I have swatched for and have just cast on to get a feel for the new to me designer and new to me yarn, Forge.

The yarn is more rustic than I thought it was, but I'm ok with it for now.

Also, since I finished my Purl Soho wrap for the Summer of Shawls KAL that I do every year here at Chez PJKnits, it's time to pull out another kit that I bought last year and cast on a new shawl - Botanical Shawl by Stephen West.

That's what is on my needles this week, how about you?

Friday Finds and Finishes

From Tangerine Designs on Etsy, she made the perfect Apple watch band for me.  Well, not just for me, but perfect for me!

Finally Finished my epic Half + Half Triangles Wrap today.  It needs a good blocking, which, I'll do next week and get some proper pics of me wrapped in it.

And now that it is done, I can think about a couple of sweaters that I want to knit on for this Fall.

Stay tuned!

You Know The Drill

It's Scrappy Sunday.  And I realized just how wide this blanket is getting as I put the new square in for today.

It covers all the way over my torso.

Can't wait to see how wide it is at the end of 2021!

Are We Thinking Fall?

I know that there is still potential for some hot days yet, but here at Chez PJKnits, these last few days and nights have been so nice and dare I say by early morning chilly?

Which totally has me thinking about a bit of Fall knitting?

Not for me, but for a certain grandson, who may need another hat from this book.

Is it too early to knit it?

If It's Sunday

It's Scrappy Sunday and I played this morning with my Memory Blanket.

Putting a square in as I do every Sunday.  This Sunday's square is just a tad heavy fingering weight in the Seaweed color way.  Despite it being a tad heavy, I used it anyway.

I also played with sorting the colors that I have for Habitation Throw which all out of the colors of the sea.

And the eagle eyes among you will notice the mitered square AND the current strip are the same!

Have a fantastic Sunday Everyone~

Hospice Prayer Shawls and Blankets

Last Thursday was Hospice Day

We had a few blankets and shawls to turn in

I just love shawl and tell at Hospice

When I went out to turn them in, I discovered they were super low on the red, white and blue blankets that we do for Vets.  When down on the riverfront on Friday, I hopped into the Fiber Universe and picked up some yarn for a Heavenly Heathers one and some bulky from the other 60 More Quick Baby Blankets.

These two books from Cascade are not just for baby blankets, but there are a lot of good designs and sizes that are perfect for Hospice blankets.  In fact, I have probably used them more for Hospice than for babies, although, the Heavenly Heathers is my go to for babies that are not relatives.

Hope you are all having a great weekend! This monarch is enjoying
the last of our roses this morning!

Finally Friday

 Some Finished -

The Garter Squish Blanket by Stephen West for Hospice, using a size 11 needle.

This was a leftover buster.  All of the greens were what was left of the skeins from a Heavenly Heathers Blanket I knit earlier this year.  And the cream held throughout was Cascade Pacific from my stash.

Some Finds -

From Instagram, I purchased this yarn and the pattern came with it for a poncho from Haus of Yarn In Nashville.  It screams me and I can't wait to cast it on!

From Knit Style Yarns, Fabulous Fashion Color way and the first five of 10 mini skeins of Bewitched colors.

My Fall knitting is filling up it would seem, how about you?

Finally Finished Friday

A couple of finished items this week.

First up, Sweet Little Nothing by Susan DeBettignes

A pretty quick knit when you concentrate on just one knit.

I had a skein of Knit Circus Greatest of Ease in Mermaid Lagoon.  I wasn't sure at the start, but I thought perhaps eventually, I would have the blues in it too.

It didn't happen that way. By the time I got to the 400 plus stitches, there was just a bit of blue starting.

I am super pleased with the green and just a bit of blue.  A departure for me, but I think it still looks pretty good on my dress.

I also finished a Summer Top.  I made a few mods to fit me, doing a rib on both the sleeves and hem, changed up the increase.

Since the yarn was self striping, I had to cut chunks of the yarn to have it somewhat match the body for the sleeves, resulting in a few more ends that I wanted.

The T is knit in the round, and so I added a slip stitch to the center front to change it up a bit, away from just a straight stockinette top.

Both knits this week were from deep stash, which is one of my goals for 2021 to use stash a bit more. ✅
