Hapalong

The PJKnits Hap-A-Long starts tomorrow night at 6 pm Central time.  The link to the Zoom is in the pjknits Ravelry group and I would love to have you join us!

We know it will go for at least 6 months, and I am anticpating my Haps will go all year long, as there are two WIPS and a definite one or two that I want to try out.

I've finally settled on yarn and colors from PYS and am excited to try Gudrun Johnston's Hansel in these color ways which are pretty close to Shetland colors from the sky of the water, the beach and a bit of a dirt patch.

My problem is finish a WIP or cast on new...

Winter has set in today in Illinois, with gloom, snow (but not sticking), a bit of wind and definitely chilly temps.

So a cuppa and knitting are definitely in order for today!!

Hope you are like me and knitting your way through the New Years Eve!

How Was Your Holiday?

It was a quiet one here after the grands left early Christmas Eve, and yes, I had a day of sadness, but on Christmas Night, I spent it on a Zoom with a knitting friend, and it was nice to knit, talk and realize so many of us are in the same boat.

Yesterday, I started the process of taking down all my Christmas.  I still have a couple of rooms to take care of and my dining room table in the basement is loaded with Christmas, strategically organized for putting away in tubs when I get to it.

After all morning and into the afternoon, I worked on it and cleaning a bit for delivery of a new refrigerator later today.  That felt good, but even better to sit down and get back to knitting for me.  Maybe, I'll even get to wear this sweater this Winter, if Winter comes.

This is not to say, I don't have other obligatory knitting (pigs and Death Star for the grands), but for this week and maybe into next week, I'm going be a selfish knitter and knit just for me.  What do you say?

And That's It!

The blanket is finished and here are the last two days of Advents for 2023.

And to round it all out, a friend from my high school days dropped these yarny related fun things at my door yesterday!

We celebrated Christmas yesterday with some of the family and now, tonight and tomorrow, it is just me and my knitting and maybe a cast on or two!

Finally Finished Friday

Just a couple other things I have finished recently--

An 18" doll poncho, which reminded me why I don't knit/make doll clothes

My Sea Salt that has an issue with the two different lots of yarn.  Stay tuned, I am gonna try and Tea Dye it to resolve the issue.

And nearing the end, thankfully, today’s border on the Epic blanket.

Feeling Good

I finally made the decision a few days back that after I finished the row I was working on in my Mitered Squares Blanket, that I would call it done.  And I did.  But, first, here are the last squares.

But, I still have some Advents left to open, so I decided they would be the single crochet borders around my blanket to finish it off.

I don't mind the crocheting around it at all til I get tired of the yarn or it runs out or it goes to another project.

And here is what the blanket looked like on Friday, when we had some warm temps and sunny skies.

It's a big one, around 66 inches, 323 squares and lots of knitting since June 2016!

What's next?  Sweaters and Hap Shawls for a bit, I think.  We will see.

Why Yes, There Is A Santa

And he has been coming my way, every day this week.

An unexpected surprise in my mail box, from Susan in Wisconsin, aka pinkshawl girl!!

She knows me so well, even though we have never meet in person.

And she wanted to send me these goodies in thanks to me.  What?!

So, unexpected, and this is just a little of why I love our knitting community so well!  The world could take a lesson from us Knitters, now couldn't they?!!

Have You Ever?

Known such a wishy washy knitter as I?  Today, I have once again decided to put one more row in my scrappy blanket, after the next couple of days, when I have finished this row.  After all, why not complete the Advent season and I still have some minis that need to go into it.

I'll deal with the border next year, when I decide how I want to finish it.  For now, here are a few days of Advents.

Scrappy Blanket Advent and Where To Go From Here?

This month certainly is speeding by, and a bit of my time, so far, has been spent on my blanket and putting the Advent Squares into it each day.

Some days, I've added some extras from my PYS, which meant after advent is done, I would still need to add another whole row to it.

I think I've found a bit of solution.  Once the row is done that I am currently putting in, I am going to call the squares finished.  I will take the rest of the Advents and add them into a scrappy border.

And as far as next year is concerned, I think I may be done with doing Advents for at least next year, except for the Door County Coffee Advent.  I am finding that this year, even while opening them is fun, I've put a bit of pressure on myself to knit each one up each day, when what I really want to be doing is knitting on some sweaters and other things!

This second Sunday in Advent is Peace.  I hope you are able to have some peace with your knitting this week!

Advents 2023

Had a little snafu on the uploads of pictures here recently so here is a bit of a mish mash for the week when it comes to my Advents.
