Some Fave Knitting Notions

While knitting my Niagara Sweater this past weekend, I noticed  that I am using some notions that I totally love, including the matching bag from Vera Bradley that my kids bought me several years back for Christmas.

A super cute stitch marker is a must, and it just so happens it is coffee related, green and a gift from a dear knitting friend of mine.

The Barber Knitting Cords to hold sleeves and body stitches.  I like them so much that I have several tins of these.

And my shortie Chiagoo needles for sleeves.  I really wish I would have bought this set ions ago!

Are you a lover of knitting notions too???

The Knitting Porch Is Open!

It's been a long Winter, so I bit the bullet and had my nephew put the chairs out on the knitting porch.

Then, took advantage of 80 degree, sunshine. and a bit windy, to do some knitting!

Oh, how I missed this.

Next week, we are back to highs of 50s and rain again, but when I can, I am going to catch some time knitting outside.

Aw Come On Spring

I don't think Spring is ever going to light here at Chez PJKnits.  Rain, rain and 50's.

Then, we get a touch of Spring/Early Summer temps and right back to below normal, with rain.

I need some 70 temps, sunshine and no rain so I can get the porch set up for sitting out and knitting.

But, in the meantime, I am already planning some shawls to knit on for Summer of Shawls 2022.  I'll start sharing them on the podcast soon, but for now, I just have to show you what is on the top of my list.

Pressed Flowers Shawl by Savory Knitting.  I ordered the kit for it from Skein Cocaine after the Knitting Posse gals enabled me.

I purchased the pattern sometime ago, and have been trying really hard to find just the right yarns in my stash for it.  This was one of those I just did not have what I needed, so when I saw Gina still had the kits, I pounced on it.

It is going to be an interesting knit, I'll be doing something I have never done before in it, and am so excited to find just the right tote bag for it as I am sure it will not be one of those quickie knits.

Anyone else planning their Summer Shawls yet?

Monday Mash-Up

A little bit of everything this Monday.

I felt the need to cast on a cape for my oldest grandson as requested, a "Darth Vader" black cape.  I am using Shalalines Design SuperHero Cape.  It's a lot of garter, and like a lot of Shana's designs has some twists and turns.  I will keep you posted on the progress.

And I am using my super cute Snoopy progress keepers I received from knitting friend, Anastasia

A funny thing happened last week.

I have an app on my phone so that I can see what mail and packages are being delivered every day.  And one of the packages that was supposed to have been delivered to my mail box on Thursday, but I didn't really know that it had not been delivered until the next day.

I was getting a bit hot and bothered that it wasn't in our mail, and ready to blame the sub postman...
and figure out how I was going to go about finding it.

On Friday, I was going out to straighten our little yard flag, when I happened to glance to the bushes, seeing a white package, and thinking, another bag was flying around...you know where I am going, don't you?

Upon closer look, it was my little package of yarn, which after a very windy day had blown off of the porch where the sub mailman had laid it on top of another box.  Rescued.

The yarn, I am hoping is going to be a Hedwig, from the Harry Potter book, for my youngest grandson's birthday in July.  It's a Harry Potter theme party, I hear.

Not only was yesterday Easter, but it was also Scrappy Sunday.  This week's installment features, my Easter mug that my darling local daughter-in-law, gifted me last weekend.

And finally, I am really trying my hardest to remember this little ditty with Snoopy, this week.

Have a great week, and here at Chez PJKnits, it looks like by Thursday, Spring will officially be here and the 70's return.  And just maybe the front porch can get opened for the knitting season.

Fingers crossed.

Finally Finished Friday

A WIP from 2021 is finally finished!

The Rugby Redux Scarf from Shibui, Staccato.  It hasn't been blocked yet, but that is on tap for later today.

The yarn itself was purchased from the Yarnery at a Stitches Midwest that has to be at least 2017 or 2018.  I started knitting on in February 2021 and it was the car project until I brought it in earlier this year to finish it for ensemble that I plan on wearing yet this Spring.

After six months away from Hospice Prayer Shawl Group, I got a chance to go yesterday to see the ladies, and see all the beautiful blankets they have knitted and crocheted in the last couple of weeks.

It was so fun to sit and knit with them again, and just bask in their friendship.

Have a great weekend dear Knitters.

Gadgets

Have I shown you this neat little gadget here on the Blog?

My knitting friend, Anita, turned me onto it and of course I had to have one.

First off the packaging was super cool, and you know how I love a cool package.

Then, of course, the color really caught me.

It has some great possibilities to use for knitting, or cross stitch.  It can hold some spare needles, a small little notebook, pen, crochet hook, scissors etc.  I am currently using it in my tote bag to hold the spare needles I am going to use for the rib of my sweater, along with tape measure,  a skinny notebook and pencil to make notes.

I am also thinking some other knitting friends might need one of these too.

Finally Finished Friday

Well now dear Readers, lets get caught up.

The last two Sundays in Scrappy Squares.

I went to see the APN last Monday, and this is my look when she said, two days no talking, use paper!

It worked somewhat, but was very hard to not talk, even to myself. It is better, but,  I am babying it right now, and have a return appointment with the doctor on Monday as it isn't quite 100%.  I am sure it is nothing, but want to have it checked out none the less.

Yesterday, I did a short podcast to update viewers whats been going on and you can find it  here     on You Tube.

And the finally finished object for this week, is another Heavenly Heathers for a Vet at the Hospice Home.  If all goes well, I am hoping to be able to start attending meetings again next week, after some time off.

Last night, I had a really nice conversation with a friend of mine that I met years ago through our knitting group.  We are so alike in so many ways and have so many of the same challenges, even though years separate us.  It was after our conversation last night, and then this morning, while I was preparing to blog, that I did some serious thinking.

Even though, it is another gloomy, so unspringlike day again here at Chez PJKnits, there is so much to look forward to, and some self reflection means it doesn't always have to be gloom and doom, or waiting for the next shoe to drop, and that is what I really am going to "try" and do here on the blog going forward.

Yes, I want to blog about and text my knitting friends what is going on in my life, because for me it helps, putting it out there to the Universe, seems like letting it go or just having you all along with me on the journey, makes me feel not so alone.

And I thank you.  I know I am not the only one who is dealing with difficulties, so if you are, please know, I feel for you as well.  We can get through this together.

Finally Finished Friday

Chelsea's Cowl by Cathy Baucom is finally finished.

This knit, both the variegate yarn and the mohair are both  goals for 2022 to use not only stash, but some beautiful gift yarns that I have received.

The variegate is a single ply from Paca Peds and is scrumptious.

I can't wait to wear it with my turqs.

PS- We’ve got sunshine today!!
