Another One Gone

Another month is almost gone.  So long, August, but hello September, and I am thinking we are all are looking forward to the Fall and some Fall knitting.

But, before we get there, here is what is going on at chez PJKnits.

I'm granddog sitting through the weekend.  He is an early riser (4 a.m.), and I am ok with that as long as he stays asleep until then...tune in tomorrow to see if that really happens. hehe

While I was up, I made several cuppas of coffee and worked on finishing a Wednesday WIP project!

A few hours later, the mailman deliver mail call!  I wasn't expecting this until tomorrow, so it was a total fun kind of mail.  For now, I am savoring it to read and plan when I need something super cool to look at.

Tomorrow is cast on day for the Frivolous & Frugal, 3 Ply Podcast, Knits n Pieces and pjknits KAL through December 31st for the Half + Half Triangles Wrap.  This will be my 3rd one, second one out of Linen Quill, and the colors literally fell next to each other in the bag that I thought I was going to return.

We would love to have you join us in this KAL, and the pattern is the perfect price from Purl Soho, Free!
Check your stash, and cast on with us, tomorrow, September 1st!

What a way to start a new month!

Good Monday Morning!

It's a new week here at Chez PJKnits, and we  I have made it through a second first for me yesterday.

What would have been our 46th yesterday has come and gone, and thankfully I had family in and out and calling yesterday, that brought me great joy, and memories.

So onto a new week/year with planning of all kinds of things to come.

And it was Scrappy Sunday yesterday, and the last scrappy Sunday of August 2022 is in the bag.

I'm granddog sitting starting tomorrow for almost a week, so wish me luck there...another first for me.

Catch you on the purl side!

Whoops, Summer Is Back

Or rather, it never left us.  The AC is back on and knitting is in the comfort of the inside these days.

But, my roses are still blooming, and so I definitely had to bring a few in to enjoy inside.

Bringing Back WIP Wednesday

I am trying really hard to finish up some WIPS before August is over, which means I'm bringing back WIP Wednesday and hopefully having #3knitwips before we slide into September.

It was a perfect day to take some photos out on the front porch, the light was really good.

First up is my Zoom knitting project, also, my I just don't want to pay attention knitting.  It is the L Cowl from Elgin Knitworks out of Direful Yarns slasher sock and a strand of Rico Design Essentials, super kid mohair and silk.  The pattern came with the purchase of the yarn.  Both yarns are new to me, and Direful is a local to Elgin Knitworks dyer, and the mohair and silk is from Italy.

It's pretty fun, as you would expect to see what the next color coming up is each time.

Next up is the Pressed Flowers Shawl, that I recast on because I was having a bit of brain fog as to how to execute.  A second try had me back on task.  This one is out of a  Skein Cocaine kit, I've blogged about before.

I have to admit, I haven't given it as much love, because I do need to kind of pay attention to the chart when knitting, and right now so many other knits are calling me.

Beatrice Mitts by Leslie Friend comes up third in the WIPs this month.  I am hoping to have them done for the Give a Boost KAL that is going on over at the Frivolous and Frugal group on Ravelry by the end of the month as well.

But, what I really have been working on, because, well frankly, I totally want to get it done and be done with it, is the Darth Vader Cape my oldest grandson requested last Spring.   It's time to get it done and off my list.  It is a boring knit, but what grandkids ask for, I try to accommodate, at least when it comes to knitting.

As much as I want to cast on some sweaters, I am really trying hard to focus on these four, at least through the end of the month!  Wish me luck!

It's A Bit Of A Scrappy Week

Last week, after a couple of adventures relatively close to each other, I decided to take the week off from  a lot of activities and do nothing.  I really wouldn't recommend it, because by Friday, I was letting my knitting brain go all over the place, planning, podcasting, making knitting time lines, which of course, by the first day, I was behind.  LOL.

But, at least I have a thought of what I need to be concentrating on, at least for now.

And as much as I am ready for Fall, I really need to just sit back and enjoy the rest of the Summer, right?!

I did, though, get my Sunday square done, this one is out of the Frivolous and Frugal color way, I received at the mini meet-up the end of the month.  I bought a skein of it after I got home, but the mini just had to go into my cozy memories blanket, as a reminder of my first trip out and about in over two years.

I'm ready for another knitting adventure out and about!

How about you all??!!

Knitting Adventure #2 Summer 2022

Last Thursday, my Roomie, Debbie and I, filled the car and headed off for another knitting adventure, this time to Indianapolis to meet with our table friends from years gone past ZK.

It was a fun filled weekend with lots of good food, knitting, drinking, yarn shop hopping, talking and goodies from everyone.

We went to Mass Ave where I bought a package of yarn, I just could not pass up.  It was on sale, and I had no idea what I was buying it for, just knew that it had to come home with me.  I'll show it when I decide what it is going to be after I podcast.

I, also, bought a couple of Christmas presents.

Saturday, we went to Zionsville, where they were having a farmers market out on the street, but still we easily made it to Village Yarns, where another kind knitter took our picture.

After Zionsville, we headed over to Noblesville where we hit Black Sheep Yarn and Always in Stitches.
I didn't even take any more pictures after Zionsville, but I can tell you Always in Stitches was light in yarn, but what a shop for quilters, cross stitchers and needleworkers.

Both Zionsville and Noblesville are the cutest towns with so many cute little shops that are fun just to wander through if that is an interest to you.

The best part - Coffee at Noble Coffee & Tee which had the best Caramel Macchiato I've ever had, no really!

The weekend was so much fun, getting to be with friends and just enjoying some knitting and good company!

It's Morning Here

I just thought this was so cute to start this post out this morning.  I'm up early today, enjoying some time on the porch.

Yesterday when I stuck my head out the door, I realized just how cool it was outside, and immediately set about opening windows. Of course, I had to sit out on the porch with my cuppa for some knitting.

After finishing Edie this past weekend, I knew that when I came home I needed to pull out my Niagara that I started last February.  My intention was to knit it for early Spring, but, well you know, life.  So, I pulled it out and it is my knitting right now, along with a cowl when I want to switch it up.

Also, I've got to get back to the oldest grandson's cape (I've got about a month to finish it)

But for now, it seems like I am a, dare I say, a bit of a monogamous knitter?!

Yesterday when I opened up the house, I really thought it was just going to be for a few hours, but thankfully, the second day this week is even better than yesterday, and so I woke up with the crickets singing to me, and then to a wasp that had greeted me in the kitchen for coffee.  He's gone now, into a closed window...

But, finally, it's another fine morning for knitting on the porch.

And I'm using my newly finished Half + Half Triangles Wrap this morning, it's that nice out this morning.

Enjoy your morning or day, whichever it is when you read this!

Monday Mail Call

Before I headed out for the weekend, I received  my order of  finger weight yarn from Chicken Lady Fiber Arts in the Frivolous and Frugal Colorway. I got a sample in my goodie bag from Frivolous and Frugal/3 Ply Podcast Mini Meetup. Along with it, she sent this cute little sampler box that I can't wait to test out.

I'm using the sample that I received from the mini meetup in my mitered square blanket and will show it next Sunday.  I'm loving how it is turning out, so stay tuned!

Sunday Scrappy and Back From Knitting Adventures

Later this week, there will be a post  on my Knitting Adventure Weekend, but as a teaser, I finished my final Summer Sweater, Edie. I'll block it tomorrow and hopefully show on a podcast and a post later.

But, for today, it is Scrappy Sunday, and another block on the blanket is up.

Happy Sunday!!

Hot and Scrappy

Oy, another hot one out there today, despite it being cloudy.  So fitting that today's mitered square is a gray one.

The weather people tell us it is going to cool down next week, lets wait and see, I'm not so sure they are telling us the whole truth.  I am not complaining nor am I wishing the Summer away, but I sure would like to at least be able to sit out on the porch and do a little knitting in the morning.  I miss that.

Hope you had a good weekend, and lets start next week off with some fun knitting!

Catch you on the purl side!

Finally Finished Friday

Half and Half Triangle Wrap #2 is finished.

I knit it out of a 100% Alpaca yarn from Webs called Sunderland from my stash on a size 7 needle.

I have to admit, it is a bit heavy in DK weight, and not one that I would wear as a shawl, much, but it would definitely fit the bill for a nice warm and cozy blanket.

I chose not to block it initially, thinking that may really make it larger than it's approximately 42" square.  I may change my mind on that later, especially if I keep it for myself.

It’s going to be super cozy this Winter!  Not something for the heat advisories we are having this weekend!

Stay cool!

Mini Meet-Up 2022

If you want an in depth, play by play, day by day account of the Frivolous and Frugal/3 Ply Podcast Mini Meet-up, hop back a day and check out my You Tube Episode 80.  I give you the low down there on the best weekend I have had in a while.

If you don't, here are the highlights.  We went up on Thursday and of course, if there is an outlet mall close by, we are checking it out.

Thursday night, was knitting in the lobby, meeting new friends and seeing what everyone was knitting on.

Friday, we headed out to Elgin Knitworks, where a sweater quantity and some other lovely yarn came with me.  We also hit up Wool and Co's new shop.

Dawn, Penny, Brianna and Nicky are just as sweet and welcoming as you would expect.  And Joyce, Irene and Angi were so much fun to get to spend time with as well.

Memories were made and yarn and knitting souvenirs came home with me!

I am definitely going next year, nothing can keep me from it.

Stay tuned to see how these lovelies all get knit up!!
