The Week So Far!

Seems like I am always playing catch up here on the blog, so here we go again.  This is what has been happening at Chez PJKnits this week.

Scrappy Sunday.  How can it be the last Sunday in June already?

I have been spending some time out on the front porch doing some knitting in the evening, while taking advantage of the fantastic weather we had for a couple of days...its hot now.

I have been out there early in the mornings, listening to a couple of house sparrows that are quite annoying with all their chirping (they think I am the intruder, eh?).

I'm working on a Ravenclaw Scarf for my oldest granddaughter.  I had this crazy notion that I could have done by this weekend for her birthday, but that is just not happening.

And I finished my Lovely Tee that my knitting friend, Peggy and I have been knitting together this past Spring, mostly virtually, given circumstances.  But, we both finished it within days of each other and wore it to our local yarn shop on Tuesday, so of course, I had to have a pic of the two of us!

More on my Lovely Tee on Finally Finished Friday!  Stay Cool!

Mail Call!

I, no sooner had said to a friend that I was getting any good mail (read that as knitting mail), then the mailman brought me this little package that I totally forgot about.

The color way is called Trench Coat and I'm thinking mitts, the Beatrice Mitts, which is why I originally bought the yarn.

But, first I have to have a cuppa and noodle on it.

Disclaimer

I didn't knit this christening shawl!  I just helped block it.

We used my blocking boards that I purchased from Lost City Knits many years ago that Chris made.  This is the best tool ever.  However, I don't think he is making them any more.

Now, I am totally thinking about casting on a new big hap!

Hello Summer!

You know it is Summer when the cross stitch that my friend Norma did for me many years ago.  I miss her every Summer when I put it up.  She inspired me in my crafting and life in so many ways.  If you knew her, you know what I am talking about.

The first day of Summer means Summer of Shawls 2022 has begun.  Pull out a shawl project to knit along with us or pull out a WIP to finish up.  I've got several of mine to choose from.

The first will be my project for quiet times, at least I think it will be.

It is Pressed Flowers by Savory Knitting.  I chose a kit from Skein Cocaine duplicating the colors in hers as well as one of the ladies from the Knitting Posse podcast.

The Epic Lace Shawl is also on the docket for really quiet times, the Lerwick Lace Shawl.......

And one WIP and two new cast ons as well, that just so happens that all three are the Half and Half Triangle Wrap pattern.

Let's cast on!

Goodbye Spring!

Is it really Spring we are saying good-bye to? It sure seemed like Spring really didn't happen, we just went to premature Summer and it decided to stay around since it was already here,

Even my poor roses bloomed early.

I am hoping the one bush decides to make some new flowers in actual Summer.

I cannot complain too much on the last day of Spring, other than it got a bit warm this afternoon which cut my knitting on the porch short for the day.

The morning was beautiful.  Nothing but blue skies!

And there are some flowers that are still blooming, despite the 90 degrees again.

So for now, good-bye Spring and hello to Summer tomorrow and the start of Summer of Shawls 2022!

It's A Scrappy Sunday

And another beautiful morning out on the porch first thing.

I stayed out there almost the entire morning, soaking up the cloudless skies.

A slight breeze and temps to die for.

And another square in my blanket, this Father's Day.

What A Break!

 In the weather that is.

It could not have been more beautiful!  Which means I spent the early morning on the porch, checking out possible new knits for the Fall. (Yep, I said Fall, but seriously really just was having fun looking at my Laine Magazine collection.)

I played a bit after with some weed killer, testing my scientist skills, we will see how that works.  Then, it was back to the porch for some afternoon knitting, before other duties called me inside.

I'm making some progress on my Lovely Tee, above, hoping to wrap it up and have it blocking come the first of the week when Summer of Shawls 2022 is set to cast on.

Are you planning on knitting any shawls this Summer with us?

As always, thanks for watching!

Mail Call!

A couple of weeks ago,  the mailman delivered part of my Purl Soho order of Linen Quill.  The blue below right is for a sweater for me later this Summer for a nice transitional sweater.  More about that in the months to comne.

The purples and the hot pink/black pairings are for half and half triangle wraps for Christmas presents.

What I like about the half and half is it is the perfect travel project.  In most cases, you only need to take one skein with you for a weekend of knitting.

And there really is a bit of zen while knitting garter.  It may be time to cast on one just because.

Ravenclaw House Scarf Cast On

 A Book

A Bag

Some Yarn and a Needle

And a Cast On, and a Bigger Bag

I'm having some fun with this Ravenclaw Scarf for my oldest granddaughter, just around and around.  She actually chose it from the book last month, and I thought it would be a great bday present for next month.

It's A Hot Scrappy Sunday

It is the start of a hot week today.  AC is on and it is muggy outside.  I could use some of our last few weeks temps back, I am just not ready for the closed up house.

But there is knitting going on, so here is this week's Scrappy Square.

I'm A Bit Behind

So let's catch up.

On Saturday morning, I spent some time knitting on the porch, play knitting.  Aka swatching to see if two yarns could be used in a Summer top together.  After blocking, I decided it was a no.  I will be talking more about it on my podcast tomorrow.

In the afternoon, I got to spend time with this cutie.  And I cooked my first real meal for more than one person on Saturday night in probably 40 plus years.  It wasn't bad.

On Sunday, I added another square to my blanket and there was wine involved at the end of the day.  Knitting Adventure Roomie, Debbie was here to help me clean out unneeded pots and pans and get them to Goodwill.

Monday started with some rain, so I did some podcast watching along with a cuppa and knitting.  Later that day, I filed a will at our courthouse and did one other errand I was not looking forward to, but was long overdue.

And today, I went to the Riverfront to do some knitting and wore a shawl as the wind coming in over from the river and the cloudy sky really dictated having something to cover up with.

I came home and checked the zinnia seeds I planted last week and was so surprised to see them already sprouting.  The Tall Guy loved his zinnias that he planted last year.

My nephew (newly adopted son) and his fiance  came today and brought me dinner and he cut my grass.  Now, it is time to take my Lovely Tee and put it on some barber cords and make sure it is on track to fit.

And now we are all caught up.  Tomorrow, my plan is to podcast.  Woohoo, I have a plan!
