Finally Finished

Can you believe September is about to be over?  My mind, these days, almost always thinks back about what was going on and where we were in our journey a year ago.  I don't dwell too much on it right now and it is not as hard as it was a couple of months ago, but still, one wonders what life will be like as the seasons change.

Thankfully, I have my knitting and it occupies a lot of my mind, along with some changes in our house, it seems I am taking over a lot of the rooms, all of the rooms.  More about that in a podcast I am hoping to do later this weekend, and here on the blog down the road.

For this Friday, I have a small little finished project to share with you all, the Sophie Scarf by PetiteKnit.  I swore I wasn't going to jump on the bandwagon when this came out, but then Noelle and Kelly from Knits n Pieces were doing a KAL, and Cadyjax too, so I pulled out the last two skeins of Cumberland Yarn, by Valley Yarns, a 100% alpaca DK yarn, that I was hoping would use all of the last of this yarn up.

I used it in my Soundtrack Sweater a couple of years back, and again earlier this year in my second Half and Half Triangle Wrap.

It didn't, I still have one skein, so perhaps fingerless mitts to coordinate at a later date.

The upside to the yarn color way, is that I have lots of things that go with it, (read that as match it, I seem to have an issue with wanting things to match these days, I like to call it an ensemble.

Now, that the Sophie Scarf is finished, I spent the afternoon outside knitting on the porch.  It was an almost perfect end to the last Friday in September, knitting on my Yume, enjoying some coffee and sunshine.  I am hoping to split for the sleeves later this evening and then the real slug of knitting begins.

Hope you all are enjoying some great Fall like weather this last Friday in September 2022.

Knit On!

Sunday Things

This Sunday's post is a little bit of everything.

Yesterday, we buried the Tall Guy's cremains.  It was time.  The kids were here for the weekend and we celebrated his life together with family and friends.  The kids all went home today, and it was a bit quiet, I have to admit, but  I am ok, and ready to start getting back to a bit of a routine or rather starting new routines.  You know, like getting a routine of sleep, eating, walking (now that it is not so hot), taking care of some house things, and getting out and doing things, perhaps exploring some day trips, but of course, while taking my knitting.

The weather here at Chez PJKnits, is definitely turning a bit like Fall and I am enjoying windows open and sunshine today.

I had some great mail last week come!  I do so look forward to September and March when my new issues of Wool Gathering hits my mailbox.  I almost always grab a cuppa and sit down to peruse it.

I finished the long awaited Darth Vader Cape for the oldest grandson.  The smiles and hugs that came with the finish totally was worth the slog of black knitting over the last couple of months.

And the last of this post brings us to what is the last of the September 2022 squares for the mitered square blanket.

Next Saturday is October already.  What? Huh? How did that happen?

It's Not Fall Yet, But It's Close

Despite the calendar telling us that Fall starts later this week, it is going to be full Summer the next couple of days, but definitely transitioning to Fall when the calendar finally says it is here.

The view from the porch definitely is giving me a mixture of late Summer and Fall.

And I have managed to keep this fir tree alive since last December, taking it outside this Spring.

It even has a new sprout on it!  Next week, I'll start thinking about replanting it in a pot with some new soil and bring it in for the Winter.

Last weekend, the Darth Vader cape knitting was completed so I rewarded myself with some knitting on my Yume and well, of course, a celebratory drink on the porch too.

Why yes, I then succumbed to casting on a Sophie Scarf out of some yarn leftover from a sweater and a half and half triangle wrap.

And rounded out with a scrappy square on Sunday.

Hope you all had a great weekend and are looking forward to the calendar, as well!

Scrappy Sunday in September

One of the common questions I get when I post about my scrappy Sunday blanket is if I am about done or how big is it going to be?  The simple answer, nope.  I really don't know how big it is going to be, but I do have quite a bit of finger weight scraps, so it is going to be big, maybe queen size.

I guess at the end of the year, I'll throw it over my bed and see what it looks like then.

Have a great week!!

Finally Finished Friday

 The L Cowl.

The two yarns and the pattern were purchased at Elgin Knitworks at the end of July when I was up that way for the Frivolous and Frugal Mini Meet-up.  Both yarns, a finger weight yarn and a mohair were new to me.

The knit was a nice simple, relaxing knit, and I loved waiting for the next color change in the mohair to see what was next.

It is super soft and will be fun to wear this Winter.

Have a good weekend!!

It's So Fitting

It is definitely a mix of things this Sunday here at Chez PJKnits

It's raining -

When it rains, and it is a Sunday, it seems like it is the perfect day, to snuggle up with a scrappy blanket.

And to add another square to it.

Once that was done, I gave myself permission to look at these possibles for swatching my next sweater to cast on.

I have narrowed them down to two for now.

I have a third, but that required going up into the Yarn Room and finding something suitable to swatch a vest for.  I haven't found what I am looking for yet, because in true rainy day fashion, while I was up there, I started doing a little rearranging and bagging up some yarns to be donated.

More on that whole thought and process another day.

For now, its time to do some knitting or possibly a nap. zzzzzz

Have You Heard About This Half + Half

Yes, I am a bit obsessed by the free pattern from Purl Soho, the Half + Half Triangles Wrap.  I've been podcasting about it, posting here and there about it, buying yarn for multiples, knitting a couple and now I did a semi proper You Tube podcast about it today, which you can see here

Cadyjax made it really popular a couple of years back, and I admit, it took me a bit to come around.

Now it seems, like I can't stop thinking about them, looking at all kinds of possible combos.

Reserving a bag specific for it.

Needles too, since the wrap is not a particularly quick knit.

It's a good way to start September out, don't you think?  Join me and three other podcasters as we get started today...ps, Purl Soho has a great sale on the yarn this weekend!!
