Knitting On!

Last Thursday was Hospice Prayer Shawl Group.  Our numbers are not what they used to be, but still a core group of fantastic ladies show up twice a month, with their fantastic work.  I need to get moving on my blanket and shawl.

Life is such at Chez PJKnits this Fall, that there are a lot of medical appointments going on and one needs to be prepared to have a bit of a tote bag with all of the essentials as to keep the mind from wondering. Always in my tote, is this scarf to match a hat that I knit a couple of years ago.  Thought it may be time to get it done before Winter.

Yesterday, at one of our appointments, the first thing I spied when we came in was this row of knitted hats for patients, that was my guess.  Isn't that the first thing every knitter would see?! The cute end to this is that an older lady and her husband came in and she too spied them!  She was not a knitter, but she needed one to keep her head warm, even though she was not the patient.  I just loved it!

So dear knitter, yes Knit On!

Finally Finished Friday

Years ago I supported a kickstarter for Knitcircus, back when they were starting up their brick and mortar store.  For my dollars, I received the Grand Canyon Shawl and a skein of Turquoise Pool color way in their Greatest of Ease base.

I decided to cast it on and make this the last Summer of Shawls 2021 shawl.  I loved how it turned out, even though the pattern was not exactly the best of written instructions.

I even got to wear it this week, and it will definitely be one that I'll wear this Winter when I need a pick me up.

Welcome Fall, I Think

Yesterday was the start of Fall.  And it came beautifully to Central Illinois.

I am having to knit in the car lately while the Tall Guy goes into some appointments, so I took advantage of the time in the car and pulled out a project that I am hoping to have for next Spring.

I may toss this sock project in as well, but hoping to have it done way before next Spring, as I really want to cast on a new pair of socks for Fall, soon.

I am wondering, do you keep projects in your car for appointment waiting?

Kicking Summer Good-Bye!

You know when a new season starts and you look forward to the next?  Well, thats not so much the case here at Chez PJKnits.  It has been a roller coaster of a ride this Summer.  And the outlook for Fall, looks like the ride is going to continue.  For now, I'm just gonna say...

And put one foot in front of the other.  Knitting talk will continue, knit on and all that stuff!

Mail Call Monday!

It's always the best of mail in March and September, when my Wool Gathering from Schoolhouse Press comes into my mailbox.  I sit it aside, wait for a bit of quiet time, then grab a cuppa and kick back to enjoy.  It didn't disappoint.

In anticipation of Fall/Winter Sweater knitting, I knitted a bit of a swatch using Unspun Icelandic, playing with adding mohair and then suri alpaca to it, trying one strand, two strands of just unspun and changing up the needle sizes.

I have been watching other knitters add the mohair to the unspun and they seemed to love it, so I really wanted to give it a try as well.  Result?  Not a fan, or maybe I just didn't have the right combo for it all to align.

I placed markers in my swatch each time I did something different in my swatch, and wrote it down in my knitting journal, so I could have it for later.

At this writing, I am still unsure what the unspun will be, it may be a version of the sweater in the new Wool Gathering, or something from Knitting Workshop, as I start thinking about continuing on with my journey with EZ.

I've got some time to think about it, as I finish a sweater on the needles.

Hope you all have a great week ahead as we look towards Fall!

I Took A Little Walk Today

There are a few signs of Fall out there.

 But, still some Summer too!

And then I came home, and had to rip back a row of knitting.

Monday Updates

It is definitely still Summer here at Chez PJKnits, but there was the best breeze to sit out on the porch and knit on one more Summery shawl, to be used into the Fall.

My knock out roses are still blooming like crazy, but that is all due to the Tall Guy who keeps the watered and fed.

I'm working on a Winter sweater out of a new-to-me yarn, Hudson and West, Forge in Cabernet.

Yesterday was scrappy Sunday and so another square has been added to my mitered square blanket. I cannot believe I am keeping up with this each week!

And this post came through on a timeline last week, and I am trying desperately trying to follow this little ditty this week.

Hope you are having a fantastic start to your week!

Friday Finds

A month or so ago, I bought these cords after seeing them on Instagram.

My first experience using them to hold sleeve stitches, I wasn't totally impressed.  They dragged a bit getting the stitches onto the cords. I persevered, and all the stitches for the sleeve finally with a big of effort made it onto the cord.

Fast forward to sliding the stitches back onto the needle.  Slick and easy.

I was super impressed and will use them again!

And now, I have a finished, well,  almost project.  Just need to block it now.

The making of an ensemble along with a matching coffee cup.

It's Scrappy Sunday

And the 2nd day of a three day weekend, even though, for me the retiree, it is all relative.

Yesterday, it was kind of gloomy and a good day for

But, today, the sun is shining and a good evening for baseball, knitting on the porch and cocktails.
