Feeling Good

I finally made the decision a few days back that after I finished the row I was working on in my Mitered Squares Blanket, that I would call it done.  And I did.  But, first, here are the last squares.

But, I still have some Advents left to open, so I decided they would be the single crochet borders around my blanket to finish it off.

I don't mind the crocheting around it at all til I get tired of the yarn or it runs out or it goes to another project.

And here is what the blanket looked like on Friday, when we had some warm temps and sunny skies.

It's a big one, around 66 inches, 323 squares and lots of knitting since June 2016!

What's next?  Sweaters and Hap Shawls for a bit, I think.  We will see.

Why Yes, There Is A Santa

And he has been coming my way, every day this week.

An unexpected surprise in my mail box, from Susan in Wisconsin, aka pinkshawl girl!!

She knows me so well, even though we have never meet in person.

And she wanted to send me these goodies in thanks to me.  What?!

So, unexpected, and this is just a little of why I love our knitting community so well!  The world could take a lesson from us Knitters, now couldn't they?!!

Have You Ever?

Known such a wishy washy knitter as I?  Today, I have once again decided to put one more row in my scrappy blanket, after the next couple of days, when I have finished this row.  After all, why not complete the Advent season and I still have some minis that need to go into it.

I'll deal with the border next year, when I decide how I want to finish it.  For now, here are a few days of Advents.

Scrappy Blanket Advent and Where To Go From Here?

This month certainly is speeding by, and a bit of my time, so far, has been spent on my blanket and putting the Advent Squares into it each day.

Some days, I've added some extras from my PYS, which meant after advent is done, I would still need to add another whole row to it.

I think I've found a bit of solution.  Once the row is done that I am currently putting in, I am going to call the squares finished.  I will take the rest of the Advents and add them into a scrappy border.

And as far as next year is concerned, I think I may be done with doing Advents for at least next year, except for the Door County Coffee Advent.  I am finding that this year, even while opening them is fun, I've put a bit of pressure on myself to knit each one up each day, when what I really want to be doing is knitting on some sweaters and other things!

This second Sunday in Advent is Peace.  I hope you are able to have some peace with your knitting this week!

Advents 2023

Had a little snafu on the uploads of pictures here recently so here is a bit of a mish mash for the week when it comes to my Advents.

Advents Are A Starting

I have three advents I am doing this year.

This is the second year I have joined a group of 3 other knitters and taken part in an advent swap.  All of the 24 yarns are tucked away in my festive box.  I will pull one out for each day between now and Christmas and add a square to my mitered square blanket.

The second is a set from last year that I won from the Grocery Girls, a set of stitch markers and progress keepers, one for each day.  I purposely saved it for this year.  Each of the markers or progress keepers will go in the square for the day from above.

The last one is a coffee advent from Door County Coffee.  I received one as a birthday gift last year, and had to have another this year.  Each day a different flavor of coffee is in the slot, and it is for a whole pot!

So for today, December 1st,

here is what they all looked like early this morning, out of their boxes

and into square 1.

A great start to December and the holiday season.
