Finally Finished Friday

Musselburgh #3 - I just love this knit for mindless knitting project.

A no pressure knit, not for anyone specfic, maybe a charity knit, but just a no nonsense knit (after the fiddly cast on)

Knit from Biscotte Yarn Felix Self Striping, a gift yarn from my friend Jane, loved watching the progressions of stripes.

Then,  as much as I wanted to hold off, casting on another one, I could not resist very early this morning.

And Musselburgh #4 is born.

Mail Call!!!

Oh, I just could not pass up this color way when it came up for sale, thanks to fellow zoomer, Marina, for keeping me informed!

I've never used Woolens and Nosh, and have wanted to.

I'm mean, really, she had me at the color way name!

I Live In Illinois

And with that, you can never be sure what the weather is going to be like from week to week.

One week, we are having gorgeous weather, the windows are open, there is a nice breeze and lots of time sitting on the porch knitting on my third Musselburgh.

And thinking, well, Halloween is just around the corner, and lets cast on some socks for the Fall season.

But, then you realize, that it really still is Summer here, and it is best not to give up totally on Summer.

And then, really, Summer is not giving up.

So, heck, why not work on your Christmas socks too, and try knitting it on the porch with hydration, of course!

But, not for long, and probably not for the next couple of days either...

So, for now, it is just knitting inside.  Hope if you are in the Midwest, you are keeping cool!

Hap-Sunday

It was a beautiful start to this Sunday.

I started it on the porch with a cuppa, just enjoying the blue skies and clouds.

Added some reading from a book I received in the mail a couple of weeks ago. It was written by Laurie Goodall, a long time resident of Shetland.

It's a travel guide and she is a guide on Shetland.  I am enjoying it slowly and dreaming of a possible future trip to Shetland, it may be just a dream, but that is okay.

My normal routine on the porch, as you know, is knitting, and I have been neglecting my Hap Shawl and the Hap-Along, I'm hosting.  So, I thought Sundays may be a good day to knit on the borders.

I was super surprised as to the simplicity of the border design and spent pretty much all of my knitting time today knitting on them.  My inspiration for the colors are from a picture that Jamiesons posted a year or two back for yarn colors.

There is still one more color the light teal of the water, but cannot wait to see them all come together, maybe next Sunday for another installment of Hap-Sunday!

Finally Finished Friday

And the last of the Summer Sweaters is finished for 2024.

This is my second Yume by Isabell Kraemer.  Both of them are out of Remix Light, both yarns two years apart at Elgin Knitworks.

The first was a long sleeve version and this one modified for almost elbow length sleeves.  I went down a size when knitting this one, and am loving the fit on it.

Very rarely, do I knit the same pattern more than once, but it seems like this Summer, I just needed a short sleeve version and the yarn is perfect for both seasons!

Planning For Some Fall/Winter Knitting

Finished my last Summer sweater a week or so ago, so it it time to start thinking about Fall and Winter sweater knitting.  Actually, I have a few already on the list and in my journal from the start of the new year, but today, I started pulling some sweater quantities out of PYS that I would like to also knit on for the upcoming looooong season.

One was a cut bait sweater, repurposing the yarn for a cardi out of the Sari Norlund book from earlier this year.  A couple sweater quantities are deep pys, and I am hoping to be able to knit them up for wearing this Winter.  Half the work now, is finding just the perfect pattern for them.

I have had a couple of mornings on the porch last week, working on pig parts.  I really need to get back to this piggy before the middle of September so I can take it to the recepient.

And when I need a break from a sweater that I am working on, I pull out this Noro poncho, that I totally can see me wearing this Fall, another one of those I had better get back onto!

I hope you have some fun plans for the next season of knitting!  See you soon!
