Finally Finished Friday - Fluffy Friday

We have had a whirlwind of a couple of weeks!  I'll share all in upcoming posts, but for now, I've got a couple of finished objects for you.  They are part of the Girls Holiday Bash Project.

It's all about the fluff this week!

A simple garter scarf out of Schulana.  This stuff was so fun to knit with, despite the fluff sometimes taking flight in the air.

Purl Ridge #6 out of Llama and Stellina.  Another super soft yarn with a bit of halo.

And finally Le Petite Parisian, a free pattern by Espace Tricot and out of three skeins of Schulana.  I just want to wrap up in this one so much!

Have I Told You Lately?

How knitting friends are the best friends?

Two friends, one old friend and one new friend, gifted me with shoulder shawls this week for the Girls Holiday Bash this year.  I am beyond grateful.

Not only are they beautiful, the shawls and the friends, but now I have to knit two less this Fall.

Both of the ladies thought that I may not have wanted them, thinking I was just knitting cowls.  The actual theme for this year's party is "It's A Wrap!"  I thought it was catchy because, it is the last Bash I and my two co-hostesses are doing.  We figured after 15 years of putting it on every December, it was a good time to end it and go out with a bang.  Everyone who attends will get some sort of wrap, whether it is a scarf, a cowl, a wrap or a shoulder shawl.

It seems like a ways off, but as is evident that the sun has gone down at 7pm tonight at this posting, it won't be long before Summer will be gone and Fall will set in.  I've got some knitting to do!

Finally Finished Friday

Its not much, but they count towards my 40 Months 40 Cowls project.

The second Liberty Wool Cowl - this time with almost all of the three skeins I had.

And all I did to this cranked sock was add the rib on the ends, but isn't it so darn cute for a scarf!

And since it is Friday, I had to share this gem of a find for celebrating weekends!

What's On The Needles?

I am having such a hard time putting this down, even though I know I should be knitting on my cowls.

And speaking of cowls, I am knitting on this bit of Fluff, which I love the feel and the fun look of it.  The pattern is by Espace Tricot and Le Petite Parisien.

The Next Sweater

I know it is supposed to be the Summer of Shawls, and I have one or two I am working on, but I've got a bit of the sweater bug, so as soon as I finished the Party Top, I was ready to cast on something new.

My yarn came while I was at Stitches Midwest as I knew it would.  I have wanted to use some Nice and Knit yarn for sometime, and could not resist ordering this colorway, Seaside.

I am pairing it up with Madelinetosh Light in Button Jar Blue from my own personal yarn shop.
I've had this yarn for several years, and finally decided to pair the two together to knit the Ranunculous.










Yes, there will be mods along the way, but I was so excited to whip up my swatch and get a feel for the two yarns.

And then to cast on!

Finally Finished Friday

I finished my Party Top out of Julie Asslein Leizu DK.  The sweater is supposed to be cropped and elbow length sleeves, but you know that it is not me.

I made mods to the sleeves so they would fit my upper arm, and making them 3/4 sleeves.  I lengthened the body as well so hits my ideal length.

I really like it and it is going to be perfect for Fall.

One Week Later --

Has it been a week since Stitches Midwest? 

It has an we had a fabulous time!

I will admit it, there was wine involved.

And I won a door prize from Miss Babs, I have never won a door prize at Stitches Midwest.

And I may have bought quite a bit of yarn, but they all have projects in mind for them.

The green and orange were bought to go with my Suburban Stitcher ZK colorway from 2018.  I have long wanted to knit a Suburban Wrap out of something bright and this is going to be it.

Lakeside Yarns was there and had two kits and patterns that I just had to have.

I first saw this one when Cori from irocknits did her You Tube video about the Minneapolis Yarn Crawl.  After a day of walking by the booth, I was all in.

We found Lavendar Lune the first night.  I am a fan of her yarn and this kit looked interesting.  I, initially thought Christmas present for someone, but maybe this one will be for me.

I was so pleased to see that A Homespun House was at Stitches market.  I watch her podcast and eyeball her yarns and so I had to jump and buy a sweaters quantity for the No Frills Sweater.

 And of course, I had to buy a basket to carry all my goodies home in.  Made by ladies from Ghana and bought at A Homespun House booth.

It was a wonderful weekend, with friends, shopping, knitting, eating and laughing!  I highly recommend it!

Sunday Planning

I did  a bit of planning yesterday.  It seems like whenever I come back from Knitting Camp, I get a bug to try some things.  This year, there are so many things on my list.  Invisible Stranded Knitting, knitting with my Shetland yarns and with my Carol Sunday yarns.

One that always is on my list and this year I want to knit some more Faroese Shawls.  I have knit two so far, one from Schoolhouse Press and one of Cheryl Oberle's.  The Schoolhouse Press version, I gifted to a friend that was going through a rough patch.

The Fundamentally Faroese by Cheryl, I wear quite a bit in the Fall and Winter.

I even knit a ette version by Cheryl, called Faroette.

At camp, one of the samples came up, which got me to thinking about some Shetland yarn that I have that I have been meaning to knit up into some Faroese Shawls for me.

I have several contenders for patterns, the red book is full of Faroese Shawls that MVK translated for Schoolhouse Press and the Schoolhouse Press Wool Gathering  #91.  #91 is the one that I have knit before, but I may want to knit it again for me, out of the red.

I have my bag ready to store my WIP once I get it going.

And last night I did my provisional chain cast on when I am ready to cast on.

Finally Finished Friday

Last week when I couldn't sleep in the wee hours of the morning, I decided to get up and knit a Llama wash cloth for the bridal shower.  It took me all of three hours to knit it from Lulu the Llama pattern.

And thats all folks for this week!

Tuesday Tip

This is not an original tip, but one that the ladies from 3 Ply Podcast reminded me of recently.  

Back in the day when I totally would not knit from a chart, I used index cards.  I would write out each row of the chart on a card and then flip the index card when starting a new row.  It got me through a lot of lace and even the different rows of socks decreases.

I used a block of wood with a slit in it that I bought at Schoolhouse Press years ago to hold the cards up so I could see them when I was sitting at a table. 

 The block of wood was really for holding up the metal chart holder, but I found it came in handy for my index cards too.

Then, I happened upon these spiral index cards which were super cool because they sit up all by themselves.

Fast forward to the reminder on the 3 Ply Podcast where the tip came up again, and I remembered I still had one of these sets of spiral bound index cards in my drawer.  This time I pulled it out to write some pesky rows on the Party Top sweater pattern, so that when I was at Knitting Camp of out in public knitting, I could easily look down even when in conversation, keep track of where I was supposed to be.

Perfect!  

What's On Your Needles This Week?

Knitting along on my Party Top sweater this week, using helical knitting to change skeins each round.  I highly recommend doing this on hand dyed and indie dyed yarn.

And for Summer of Shawls, I am knitting away on my Shadow Shawl and loving the easy knitting, but still enough to keep the mind from wandering!

This is how I am spending the rest of the day now that all the laundry is done!  It has been quite the last 30 days. 

 ZK, our end of the year at work, Knitting Camp and just yesterday the hosting of a bridal shower.  I've got about a week and a half before Stitches Midwest weekend and six weeks from yesterday until the wedding.  

So, when I say the Summer will be over before I know it, you can understand why.
