When Last We Blogged

 I finished a sleeve

And really thought I would have sleeve number two done by now

But, I did do a scrappy square for the final Sunday in October

And bought treats for absolutely no trick or treaters except for one cutie that I am super partial to.

So, now lets bring on November which is a big month for me with a BIG birthday too!

Cravings

 I finished sleeve #1 on my Ground Pepper!!

It didn't take me forever, for the sleeve that is.  Cast on was last Fall and I put it away for the Spring and other things.  It has been my go to knitting for my local yarn shop, The Fiber Universe.  Recently, I have been on this bit of monogamy when it comes to my knitting so I can finish some things. Right now, I am dying to get back to another fun sweater, but this one must be finished first.

I'm craving easy, carefree, throw on and putz around in the house type of sweaters right now or go for a walk in, wear to the park or just to the local yarn shop.  I see a podcast topic coming.

I'm also craving macarons (see my stitch marker above), I just don't have a local source for homemade ones, but am thinking that might be a nice Winter project to learn how to make them!

Feeling Antsy

Ever had that feeling where you just needed to get out of the house?  After a super rainy day yesterday, today was a sunny day and I knew this afternoon, that I just needed to get out of the house and sit in the sun.  Right before I headed out, I turned around and picked up my knitting.

I headed out to our park, where we have a lagoon that attracts walkers, fishers and geese/ducks.  

The ducks have taken over certain spots for sure, and when walking, one really needs to look down to make sure you don't step in their poop on the sidewalk.

I found a nice bench on the North side this afternoon to enjoy the sun, the water and my knitting.

After awhile I walked back the other way, and took some pictures of things around the lagoon, including the Pavilion that hosted a lot of things over the years, including my niece's wedding a couple of years back.

Back in my parents day, it was my understanding that it was open and served refreshments in the Winter when they would ice skate on the frozen lagoon. It is not used for that anymore, only for special occasions, but it is cool to see in the Winter.  We will save that for Winter.  

My walk found these monuments that I never ever saw before, and I am glad that our city put them there as a tribute.

I finished up my walk, enjoying the sparkle of the sun on the waves.

That Fall is definitely here.

I am hoping to take some more walks in the park, before Winter sets in.

I Proclaim Today

 as Penny Day, or do/eat what you want.  Back when I was working, Sundays were my day.  I may have done some laundry, but for the most part, it was a relaxing day, before going back to work the next day, I would just take the day and plan my week, plan my knitting etc and generally just have a me day.

Even though I am not working any more, I found myself doing the same thing this morning, and felt like today was a good day to have a Me Day. 

Before the sun was even up, I was out on the porch, taking advantage of some nice weather, even though, just a tad chilly and windy,  enjoying my knitting and probably one of the very last days of early morning knitting on the porch.

Because it was Sunday, I treated myself to a coffee from Starbucks, and with it being Sunday morning, I figured they wouldn't be too busy and when I got there, I was pleased that they had it all ready and waiting for me.

Enjoyed my cuppa while doing some planning of the week along with a topic for the podcast later this week having to do with some easy, comfortable sweaters I want to talk about.  Then, knit my square for Scrappy Sunday.

Finished up the day with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, my go to meal when I don't want to cook and some old reruns of Sex and the City.

Finally Finished Friday

Here at Chez PJKnits, its back to Fall again, with gorgeous sunshine and blue skies along with temps in the 70's and best of all the heat is off again.  I just was not ready to start running the furnace as soon as we had to. So count me as happy.

Last weekend, we celebrated by oldest grandson's birthday and I finished the Ravenclaw Scarf from the Harry Potter Knits book for my oldest granddaughter.  The smile says everything!

I'm super happy that project is done!

Now, I'm taking some time to work on "some" sweaters for me for Winter and planning to talk about them next week sometime on a podcast.  In the meantime, hope you are having a great Fall weekend!

Playing Catch Up

 A couple of Scrappy Sunday Squares

A new cast on because, well, you know, I am obsessed with some Shetland stuff these days.  And my cookie from my oldest grandson's bday party matches my knit.

It's chilly and windy here at Chez PJKnits, but at least it is sunny.  Hope your days are sunny wherever you are!

Fair Isle Friday

Is it just me or do you see what appears to be knitting on tv shows and movies and get your phone camera out and take a picture for future reference?  I know years ago, Meg mentioned that during a Winter Olympics, she saw a Norwegian sweater and took her camera out and took pictures of it, so she could reproduce it.

That is probably where I got the idea too.  I am obsessed with Shetland, (you already know that if you have watched the last podcast), and the Brit Box series Shetland.  If nothing else, you have to watch the show for the scenery and the knitting.

The last few weeks, there have been some super cool knits that I want to share with you dear readers.  They don't translate the best 3rd hand to the computer, but I am thinking you Knitters will certainly appreciate the knits.

Have a great weekend and if you haven't, its time to pull out the sweaters, we have definitely had a change in seasons here!

Rant Ahead

Saturday was a beautiful day.  The sky was so blue that it went with  

my knitting outside.  I felt like there was a little something in my head going on.

Then,  I woke up Sunday morning, feeling a bit worse for the wear, a bit of a cough, but still I knitted, you know scrappy Sunday and all.

Fast forward a couple of days later, this is a full blown upper respiratory thingy, not Covid (I've tested twice) and I feel like crap.  

I say enough, I'm going to 2023.  I'm skipping the rest of 2022.

Anyone want to join me?

Finally Finished

 Can you believe September is about to be over?  My mind, these days, almost always thinks back about what was going on and where we were in our journey a year ago.  I don't dwell too much on it right now and it is not as hard as it was a couple of months ago, but still, one wonders what life will be like as the seasons change.

Thankfully, I have my knitting and it occupies a lot of my mind, along with some changes in our house, it seems I am taking over a lot of the rooms, all of the rooms.  More about that in a podcast I am hoping to do later this weekend, and here on the blog down the road.

For this Friday, I have a small little finished project to share with you all, the Sophie Scarf by PetiteKnit.  I swore I wasn't going to jump on the bandwagon when this came out, but then Noelle and Kelly from Knits n Pieces were doing a KAL, and Cadyjax too, so I pulled out the last two skeins of Cumberland Yarn, by Valley Yarns, a 100% alpaca DK yarn, that I was hoping would use all of the last of this yarn up.

I used it in my Soundtrack Sweater a couple of years back, and again earlier this year in my second Half and Half Triangle Wrap.

It didn't, I still have one skein, so perhaps fingerless mitts to coordinate at a later date.

The upside to the yarn color way, is that I have lots of things that go with it, (read that as match it, I seem to have an issue with wanting things to match these days, I like to call it an ensemble. 

Now, that the Sophie Scarf is finished, I spent the afternoon outside knitting on the porch.  It was an almost perfect end to the last Friday in September, knitting on my Yume, enjoying some coffee and sunshine.  I am hoping to split for the sleeves later this evening and then the real slug of knitting begins.

Sunday Things

This Sunday's post is a little bit of everything.  

Yesterday, we buried the Tall Guy's cremains.  It was time.  The kids were here for the weekend and we celebrated his life together with family and friends.  The kids all went home today, and it was a bit quiet, I have to admit, but  I am ok, and ready to start getting back to a bit of a routine or rather starting new routines.  You know, like getting a routine of sleep, eating, walking (now that it is not so hot), taking care of some house things, and getting out and doing things, perhaps exploring some day trips, but of course, while taking my knitting.

The weather here at Chez PJKnits, is definitely turning a bit like Fall and I am enjoying windows open and sunshine today. 

I had some great mail last week come!  I do so look forward to September and March when my new issues of Wool Gathering hits my mailbox.  I almost always grab a cuppa and sit down to peruse it.

I finished the long awaited Darth Vader Cape for the oldest grandson.  The smiles and hugs that came with the finish totally was worth the slog of black knitting over the last couple of months.

And the last of this post brings us to what is the last of the September 2022 squares for the mitered square blanket.  

Next Saturday is October already.  What? Huh? How did that happen?
