Knitting, Weather and On the Porch

This is perfect for me today.  All I want to do is knit, and think about knitting before even finishing whats on my needles.

In between, there has been some knitting on the porch in the morning.  Yesterday, early, it was beautiful, almost a bit cool, but that did not last long, it warmed up a bit.

Today, I got a bit of a late start on the porch, and it wasn't too terribly bad, until the sun really came out of the clouds.

I managed to get an errand run, but, now am back in the AC and thinking about knitting.  Ah, the life, eh?

Where oh where did May go?

Day 5 Market - The End

I would say the market was a success.  On the backside, and after seeing what everyone else purchased, I wish we would have stayed Sunday and checked it out one more time.

But, I did get some very nice things -

From Twill and Print, pin, keychain that also doubles as gauge measurer, and a beer bottle opener.

From Kattrin Pelletier, some lovely note cards.

The Sonder Yarn booth was packed and finally after the third try, we motored in, where a sweater quantity in the Parade color way came home with me.  I've been ogling this color for over a year.  Also, an on the go leather ditty for my knitting bag.  Again, something, I have been wanting to get.

I've been following the Dolphina Collection on Instagram, and her booth was first on my list.  I got to chat with her, and picked up a new project bag.

After dinner, we went to the 4th floor, where we met up with most of all our friends from the U.S. for a Knit Night of our own.

This is the end.  Debbie and I got up very early on Day 6, and headed home, driving 16 hours straight, instead of staying over half way. It was so worth it to sleep in my own bed.

And now, back to our knitting.

We Interrupt Montreal

For the last Sunday in May, which as it is not only Scrappy Sunday, it is the Indy 500!  I have been a fan, attending my first one in 6th grade, watching on t.v. when we couldn't attend, and I lived in Indy for a short while, very short while I was a Senior in high school.  Had we stayed in Indy, there is no doubt in my mind that I would have been working at the Speedway in some capacity.

As always now, I watch it, still as excited as I ever was, now, with my knitting always in hand, until almost the end, when I have to put my knitting down to see who eeks across the finish line.

Today's race definitely was an odd one, something I have never seen.

And because I was eager to knit on other things before the race, I did manage to knit one final square for May in my Scrappy blanket.

It was just a tad chilly this morning, and luckily since the blanket is quite large, it was easy to cover the tootsies up with it, while knitting on it.

I, also, cast on a new project from the Mouche and Friends book that I bought at Espace Tricot last week.

I now have a pig nose. LOL

And onto the body of my Salty Air Tee for the race and the rest of the holiday weekend knitting!

Have a great Holiday!!

Knit City Knit Night

I did not take any pictures at all, but snag this one off of Cher.  All of us with our special bags that Sandy made for the U.S. contingent that are a part of several zooms.  She made them even for those Knit Wit friends she had not met yet.

She truly is Queen Sandy, even though, she prefers to be known as the other Sandy who makes bags.

This was after the Knit Night.  Knit Night consisted of a room packed with tables of knitters with a panel of three moderating a couple of games, some stuff about them and etc.

I was glad I went, our table was upgraded from the back to the front, the highlight of the night.

Day 4 - Montreal - Oh Yes, There Is More

Exploring the city on foot and getting our exercise.

Never did find the Underground City, but we did walk a lot and see a lot of the city.

At night, we would eat on the 37th floor of our hotel and watch the sun bounce off the windows, at awe at the view!

Seeing the St. Lawrence River along the city was so fantastic!  We saw glimpses of it as we traveled to Montreal, but never like this.

Then from our 32nd floor room, the views were wonderful as well.

Especially at night!

What a city, at any time!!

Montreal Day 3

On Thursday, we headed out in our knits to visit Montreal yarn shops.

Thankfully, Debbie was driving as she is super ok with in city driving.  First stop was Espace Tricot.  We were greeted right away by Naomi, one of the owners, and she and Hannah helped me pick some yarns for a pig for one of my granddaughters.

Next stop, La Maison Tricotee  X Le Plateau.  And of course, they had me at the color of the shop outside.

We bought a birthday gift for a knitting friend and we were off to the next shop.  Both the owner and her staff were so sweet and gave us suggestions for lunch.

Our final shop, but not the last stop was Les Tricoteuses Du Quartier Wool.

A very sweet knitter, who was going into the shop, saw that we were struggling, and took our picture for us.

After this stop, we tried to go to La Bobineuse, but finding parking was impossible, and after several drive arounds and parking illegally, we decided to head back to the hotel, as it was getting late in the afternoon, and we were dying for a cuppa.

Lucky us, our hotel had a Starbucks on premises, so we had our mid-afternoon beverage there, while waiting for our other Knit Wits from Peoria to arrive via air.

Also on our list for shops was Biscotte, but it was about 30 minutes away, so we will save that for another trip to Montreal.

Once our friends got checked in we headed to the 37th floor for a light dinner with the Knit Wits of Peoria, and that is where we finished our evenings the rest of the week

It was a great gathering place throughout the day as well for knitters to connect, have a beverage and enjoy some knitting time.

I am definitely taking advantage of the Concierge level from now on when doing Knitting Adventiures!

Montreal Day 1 and 2

Over the next several days, I am going to post about the trip to Montreal for those who might be interested.

We left around 6:00 a.m on Tuesday.

The great thing about driving is that you can take whatever you want, including as many knitting bags as you want.

Our couple of groups from the mini meet up last year and zooms were gifted a generous bag from our friend and fellow knitter Sandy, so of course it had to have a front and center place all weekend, and was coveted by everyone who saw it at Knit City Montreal.

Our route was all mapped out courtesy of AAA, and included the plan to stay around half way in London, Ontario, Canada.

Making our way up to Chicago, a small stint in Indiana and then Michigan.

We made the border crossing at Port Huron.

It was super smooth as we were the only car in the car lane, so maybe 3 minutes was all it took.

And we were on our way.

We made London before dark.  Took off Wednesday morning, for Toronto.  We were able to spend time at a truly Premium Outlet Mall, a real department store, Hudson Bay along with a huge mall, where my roomie introduced me to the kids meal at Chickfila.

We went to The Knitting Loft which I had heard a lot about by others.  Lots of potential future purchases!  Downside, their parking lot is the pits.

After being nourished, we set off for Montreal, where we arrived outside our hotel Sheraton and made our way to the scary parking garage, but after some maneuvering, it was old had to my roomie who drove while we were in the city.

Checked into our room, and had a night's rest, watching Queen Charlotte, knitting and making a plan for Day 3.
