Happy Friday!

What a day this has been!  It is beautiful out and so, with the assistance of my wonderful nephew, we got bushes trimmed that haven't been trimmed since 2021.

But, to start the day off, I recorded a podcast and you can watch it by clicking here

On the podcast I showed and shared with viewers two new sweaters, the Garter Marler Cardigan and Ranunculus #3.  In the coming days, I will share them here as well.

Have a good weekend!

When You Love A Pattern

So much you make it twice and wear it a lot...Spring and Fall.

That is the case of Ground Pepper by Suviknits.

Ground Pepper #1 made a few years back out of a gradient speckled set by Leading Men Fiber Arts. Technically, the yarn is a Sport weight according to the dyer, but I felt like it was in between that and a fingering weight yarn.

Then last year, I finished another one in Dream in Color fingering weight.

I made it to the same specs as my first one.

This one is a much softer yarn.

Definitely a softer drape to it.

A bit wider in the shoulders than number one.

But, I love it just as much as the first and it goes with my wardrobe of blue jeans, totes, watchbands, bracelet and raincoat.

Caribbean Blues, my neutral!

Two Scrappy Blankets

 It's Scrappy Sunday!

Funny thing, both of my blankets, a knit one and a crochet one are from 2016!

The first I have posted about all the time, but that is what happens when you only do one or two squares a week.  I am hoping by the end of this year, that I will be close to completing it and using it on a spare bed.

In late 2016, I had foot surgery, started watching knitting podcasts and was having problems with my hands, which we discovered was arthritis.  At the time, I heard about a crochet blanket using scraps, so I started one, thinking it would be a little easier on my hands.  Eh.

Since then, I occasionally pull it out to crochet a few stitches, but it really has not been getting a lot of time.  My bag of scraps is getting larger, and I was really contemplating just ending the blanket and donating the bag of scraps.

And then this morning, I figured what the heck, pulled it out and did a row...I think I'll try doing a row every Sunday going forward too.

Maybe by the time my first grandchild goes to college, I'll have a blanket  to send with her.  Maybe. Stay Tuned!

Have a great Sunday!  Hope your weather is better than ours, but we do have our knitting and crocheting!

And There It Goes

Last nights storms that came through, took the sunny, warmer temps away with it.  But, no worries, some rainy days, I just want to put on some comfy clothes, grab a cuppa, watch some podcasts, and knit or in my case do some dream knitting.

Watch for blogposts later this week where I'll blog about sweater ideas I am noodling on.  Yesterday, I did get to knit on the porch a bit for some sweater knitting...

until a quite ugly big carpenter bee unnerved me a bit so I came and watched it do whatever it was doing for about an hour or so.

He is gone now, but it is way too windy to be out on the porch today, so I knit a square on my Sunday blanket.  Just one though, because there are so many sweaters that I want to be knitting.

Hope you are having a great Sunday of knitting!

Three Years Later

We are back at the Hospice Home in Peoria for Prayer Shawl Group

It was so nice to walk through the doors and sit in the conference room today to knit on blankets and shawls for patients.

One of our knitters has a cousin from down South that knits and crochets blankets for us and today, she had 28 that she has done.  The rest of the 39 were from our local knitters.

Do you have a Hospice Home close to you?  If you do, I encourage you to see if they have a group that knits prayer shawls and blankets for the patients.  Sincerely, I say it will warm your heart.

What's Up Wednesday

Oy, this Spring weather in Central Illinois has me outside whenever possible!  I even went out and walked again today, nothing but blue skies. I, also, blocked a sweater that I am knitting on to see what the sleeve was going to feel like.  It was very tight pre-blocking, and after blocking did not change a bit, so I am recasting on with a bigger needle and a larger size, at least for the sleeves for now.

Yesterday, we started knitting again on the riverfront in Peoria.  I got a bit of sun on the face, it just felt so good to be out in it, but, I definitely will have to put some sunscreen on for future knitting on the river.  I should get out my hat too, like some of my friends, but I haven't quite found just the right one yet.

The views on the river are fantastic, and I truly could sit there and watch it flow all day long.

The weather promises to be nice the rest of this week, so we will head back on Friday to sit outside and knit.  It is a bit unseasonably warm right now, but, next week, as it does in Illinois, it will be back to normal temps, and knitting inside for a couple of weeks!

Hope you are having a nice ease into Spring and some knitting too!

Finally Finished Friday

Niagara is done and off the blocking boards.

As a bit of a palette cleanser, I've pulled out some cotton yarn from pys and knit myself some dish cloths.  I just recently realized how much I like these for doing dishes.  The sugar and cream yarn has not disappointed and washes up, even bleaches quite well.

We are having some fantastic weather here in Central Illinois and looks like it will continue through a bit next week.

Woohoo!

Finally Some Sunshine

Had a bit of a stormy, gloomy start to the weekend.

This was most of Friday afternoon and evening, ending with some sunshine at the end of the day.

Yesterday was gloomy skies and winds that are carrying through today, but at least there is sunshine today and lots of knitting going on.

I've been knitting like crazy on my Garter Marler Cardigan, hoping to finish the first sleeve later today.

And because I seriously want to be knitting on it all the time, I just knit one square on my Scrappy Sunday Blanket, a very Springy square for sure.

Took some time to block the Niagara cardigan I have been knitting on since last year this time.  I'll show it later this week, and show on the podcast also later this week.

Stay tuned, and hope you are enjoying your weekend!
