Finally Finished Friday

Turtle Dove by Espace Tricot

Everyone is knitting this free pattern from Espace Tricot.  I love mine!

The yarn is Woolfolk, Luft and is to die for.  So soft!  I made some mods to mine, lengthening the body a couple of inches, doing decreases in the arm later than the pattern called for, and lengthening them just a bit to hit right before the wrist.

I am going to wear this one a lot!

Ugh!

This stuff is something.  I am back to work, but by midday, I am ready for a nap, some warm beverages and my chair.  It has changed our Christmas plans, as I don't want to go around a newborn with this stuff, so we will spend a quiet holiday at home, dog sitting for a bit, a small dinner with local family and lots of rest and relaxation.

So, what I have I done while waiting for the stuff to finally go away?

Made two batches of my Mom's peanut butter fudge recipe with the help of the Tall Guy.
We still need to make one more batch for right before New Year's.

And I have one sock done for Baby Boy B's fiancee.  I am not sure that she will get them this year or maybe I have a start for next year's Christmas.

The colorway is Godric Gryffindor from Bumblebee Acres.  Baby Boy B's is Salazar Slytherin.  I was hoping I could gift them at the same time, hence, they may make a nice stocking stuffer for the couple next year after they are married.  But, I still have time to knit the second one for her and then knit his for next year.  We will see.

Hope you all have your Christmas knitting done and ready to go!!

I’ll Be Back

Eventually.  I’ve been down with bronchitis and laryngitis since last Tuesday night.  Ugh!  I don’t have time for this.  The voice is slowly coming back, but the cough is lingering and keeps me up about every four hours.  I’ll try going back to work tomorrow, we will see how that goes.

Until later, I hope you all are well and finished with your Christmas shopping!

Baby Sweet Pea's Blanket -

My Daughter-in-law's stocking that was a surprise to her -

And a pic of the four hung over the fireplace before Sweet Pea arrives.  Now, they all match with the same colors.

And Now It Is December

And there are so many things coming up, that I just know we are going to turn around and Christmas will be here.  It seems like every week, there are a couple of things that need to be done, so I am starting to prep today and see if I can't get a little schedule for myself so as to be ready and to also enjoy the holiday.

Right now, we are waiting for grand baby #3 to be born.  The actual due date for her is Monday, so we shall see.  I am a terrible waiter.  I dislike waiting for anything, but we all know babies will come when they want to and so she will teach me patience.  Her stocking is done all but for the name (as that part is always a surprise from Baby A and his wife).  I provisionally cast on the stocking and worked it down to the toe, so all I would have to do after the birth, is add the name, some corrugate rib perhaps at the top and the I-cord hanger.  Then, I'll steam block it and voila, we will have a stocking!

I've got my Christmas knitting bag packed for the trip over.  It is not all Christmas knits at this point, there is extra yarn for my Pickpocket that I will pick back up after I finish a couple of Christmas socks, but I am packing it just in case, I don't feel the knit on the socks.

The socks are just barely cast on and are a surprise, aka maybe I won't get them knit in time, but I am going to give it the college try!

Like today, when I just want to take one day and knit something for fun.  I am working on my Nice Capades sweater in hopes that I will have it done for Christmas wearing.  Again, not necessarily a have to knit, just taking a nice break from "real" Christmas knitting.

And for your Central Illinois weather report - after many days of what seemed like late December/January/February weather, it is now 58 degrees at this typing, which seems like October weather.  Oy, what is up Mother Nature?

Have a great start to December Knitters!

Finally Finished Friday and November

Yep, it is the last day of November and so we conclude our 30 Days of Knits in November with two pics, the 29th and the 30th.

#29 is my Garter Pelerine by Elizabeth Zimmermann, with the exact same colors of Unspun Icelandic that EZ knit hers many years ago.

#30 is a fave sweater of mine, albeit not the best fit of a sweater.  But, the strand of mohair adds to the softness of the cardi that I find myself throwing on a lot in the Winter months.

Have a great weekend Knitters, catch you later for some Christmas knitting ideas and show notes for the last podcast!

Find Your Fade

This totally came in handy today for driving into work!

I'm never quite sure how to wear these odd elongated shawls, so today, I just kind of threw it on.

It worked and kept me warm all the way into the building.

Winter Work Wardrobe

I know, I know, you are going to say another Cheryl Oberle design?  Yes, on this day 27 of 30 Days of Knits in November it is.  Cheryl's sweaters and jackets designs are so much a part of my Winter Work Wardrobe.  And have stood the test of time!

Today's is Hanten, a unique construction and is also out of her Dancing Colors yarn!

Happy Tuesday!!

Oy! Day 26 Weather

What a bunch of weather yesterday, last night and this morning brought the Midwest.  It was a mixed bag, rain, wind, snow, ice, bad roads, good roads and a just a bit chilly.

The weather was all over the place.  Some/most of my co-workers did not make it in, but my roads were actually better than Peoria's were.

So, I made it to work and had my Three Sisters Jacket by Cheryl Oberle on to keep me  toasty!
The yarn is Cascade 220 and is such a work horse yarn!

Happy Monday Knitters!!

Day 25 Whine

Day 25 and I am going to whine! I don’t want to go back to work tomorrow. I want to stay home and knit. But, I guess I gotta go to pay for the knitting! Today’s knit is so special to me. Several years back I received a most lovely gift at knitting camp from Linda in OKC. She gifted me with a beautiful specially spun yarn in all the my lovely colors. The following year, I knitted it for my show and tell, another Cheryl Oberle design, the Feather and Fan Shawl from her Folk Shawls Book.
It is the perfect shawl for hanging out on this Sunday before going back to work and waiting for whatever the weather brings.

I hope you all had a great long Thanksgiving weekend.  If you are in the Midwest, be careful, I hear it may be a bit dicey to the start of the work week!

Nothing Like Having A Hap

When on the road.  Today is Day 24 and we are home, but this is me earlier today with my Lerwick Harbour Hap Shawl keeping me toasty on the way home.

Haps are the best kind of shawls to keep in the car.  They can be a shawl, a scarf or a blanket!  I am ready to knit another one next year only even larger!
