I'm All Set

I took sometime yesterday to catch up on tightening up, weaving in ends and duplicate stitching where needed to get my Burra Cowl ready for a weekend of knitting on it.

I was a bit worried about the beginning of the round problems and how there were such big gaps.  But, then I flipped it inside out, OY!

That was even scarier.  But, after a bit of patience and walking away a couple of times, I had a tidy little pile of ends.

And now, I am all set to knit on with my Burra Cowl through the 4th of July.  It will be interesting to see  how much I can accomplish.  I am hoping for quite a bit, because frankly, I am ready to be done.

Are you joining in the Burra Cowl KAL?  There is a fabulous prize at the end of the weekend!  Check the You Tube shorty episode from Thursday to hear all about it!

Neons Are Back

Right?! Last week's episode I featured a shawl from my knits, the 3 Color Cashmere Shawl by Joji Locatelli in what I dubbed as the Willy Wonka colors.

And totally in neon colors.  I liked it so much that a couple of years later, I knit it for a friend for a Knitmas gift.  She is a neon sort of gal.

A recent cast on has me back in the neons again. This time, the Colorshift Cowl by Carina Spencer.

It is going to incorporate these lovelies from Penny's Yarn Shop, aka PYS.

Aren't these fun???  Neons are back!

There WAS a lovely breeze this morning

on the porch.  The perfect day to cast on a shawl for the annual Summer of Shawls 2023 here at Chez PJKnits.

There is still a breeze, but it is a hot breeze and in typical Summer weather, the temp is eeking up to the 90's, there is no rain, the grass is crunchy and gives the Tropics a very much Illinois type of weather.

For now, I'll retreat to the AC, maybe venture out later tonight back to the porch when the sun eases up a bit.

Are you knitting shawls along with us this Summer?  Let us know what you are knitting on.

Finally Finished Friday

I am totally loving my latest finished object, the Salty Air Tee by Samantha Guerin.

I've paired it with a black tank dress that I bought from Amazon.  I'm not sure of the length of the dress, but am going with it for now, as I have looked and looked for one from other sources and just not finding what I want.

I knit it out of Purl Soho Linen Quill that was slated for a Half and Half Wrap, and so glad I did.

The feel of the fabric on a size 5 needle is just what it needed.  I extended my sleeves as I always do along with a tad more length.

And since I loved both the pattern/designer and yarn so much, I am casting on the latest design from Samantha, Pampas in another Linen Quill that was slated for another Half and Half Wrap.

The weather here at Chez PJKnits is gorgeous again this weekend, so the AC is off and there will be lots of knitting on the porch for sure.

Hope you are having a great start to your weekend!!

My Weekend

As you already know was all about grandkids.

Headed over to Iowa on Saturday for a Dance Recital for oldest granddaughter!  Can I say how much, this mother of boys enjoys watching dance recitals???

And woke up Sunday to another fun morning with them!

Weekend Plans

Well, another weekend is upon us and it is a filled one for me.  I'm watching both my youngest grandson and grand dog the next couple of days.

Then, a quick trip to see my other grandkids and watch a dancing recital.  As someone who never did dance, I am looking forward to watching not only my oldest granddaughter, but also, all of the others.

I've spent sometime out on the front porch knitting these past few days, as finally we have some decent weather, but no rain.  A couple of the mornings, I had to put on my Garter Marler Cardigan, because the early morning temp was a bit chilly.

I do enjoy those early mornings, just me and my knitting, and a bit of journalling, along with a reading from a book, a friend gave me back in the days of stuff.  My mug is from my friend Norma, who passed away some years ago, so it brings back some wonderful memories.

I am finally over the hump of the body of my Salty Air Tee, and onto the sleeves, (sleeve island as the pin in the picture signifies) which shouldn't take too terribly long, but given my schedule the next couple of days, it may be next week before I totally finish it and see if the body is long enough after blocking.

Luckily, I have plenty of yarn should I need to add some length to it.  But, that would happen only after a glass of wine to go with my stitch marker.

Have a good weekend, and I'll blog at you next week!

Fast Forward

All of a sudden it is a Tuesday!  Where did the weekend go?

Had the Granddog for the weekend.

Did A Scrappy Square on my blanket.

Did some knitting on the porch when I could.

Perused the latest edition of Laine Magazine, and made a ton of notes for some future projects.

Did a little 2020 remembering via this t-shirt.

And reaffirmed my mantra for 2023 again, via Mother's Day gift that one of my daughter-in-law picked out, and see how perfect it goes with my flower my other daughter-in-law sent me.  And please notice, it is still alive.  (she pats on back)

Off to knit!
